Peering Through the SEL Lens:  The Mindsets, Skills, and Practices Critical to Becoming an Authentic SEL School Community

Join West 40 ISC #2 Professional Learning Center and Prevent School Violence Illinois (PSVI) for an interactive and fun workshop to: Explode myths around what SEL is and what it isn’t Learn about the ways that social and emotional skills are foundational to school environmental where all students (and adults) thrive Hear success stories of personnel from schools that have undertaken efforts to positively transform their cultures and climates Map your SEL assets and plan for the actions you can take to bring your community to the next level

After the workshop, you will:

  • Be able to identify the five Social and Emotional Learning competencies
  •  Understand our brains’ ability to learn, the ways that trauma and adverse experiences challenge learning, and the approaches that can successfully (re)build resilience
  •  Leave with an individualized action plan that will guide your next steps toward a comprehensive and integrated SEL school community
