Leyden Area Special Education Cooperative (LASEC) will hold a public hearing on August 10, 2021, from 8:00 - 8:30 AM, and to be held in the LASEC Office Conference Room, 10401 Grand Avenue Franklin Park, IL 60131. The purpose of the hearing is to provide both educators and parents with the opportunity to provide testimony during the public hearing about the following proposal.
The modification of the 2021-2022 school calendar for Phoenix Academy to attend school on predetermined legal school holidays in Illinois. This modification is specifically allowable in accordance with Section 24-2 of the school code. The proposal indicates students can attend school on all school holidays; Martin Luther King Day (third Monday in January), Abraham Lincoln’s Birthday (February 12th), Casimir Pulaski (first Monday in March), Christopher Columbus Day (second Monday in October), and Veterans Day (November 11th). This will allow for Phoenix Academy to optimize instructional weeks for students and reflects the LASEC member district school calendars.
